Do you know who Susan Leigh Vaughan Smith is? Hmmm. No.

She was the South Carolina woman sentenced to life in prison for murdering her two young boys. In July 1995 she was convicted but before that she claimed that a black man stole her car and kidnapped her sons. Police and media bought her story and wrongly stopped and questioned many black men based upon her false reports. But she isn’t the only white person to claim “the back guy” did it in order to throw off suspicion.Susan Leigh Vaughan Smith (born September 26, 1971) is an American woman sentenced to life in prison for murdering her children. Born in Union, South Carolina, and a former student of the University of South Carolina Union, she was convicted on July 22, 1995 of murdering her two sons, 3-year-old Michael Daniel Smith, born October 10, 1991, and 14-month-old Alexander Tyler Smith, born August 5, 1993.[2] The case gained worldwide attention shortly after it developed, due to Smith claiming that a black man stole her car and kidnapped her sons. Smith later claimed that she suffered from mental health issues that impaired her judgment.
Now, we all know that Bethany Storro indeed hurt herself with acid but she also first blamed it on a Black person. This is a trend that has been going on some time now. Bethany Sorro received a lot of media attention after claiming that a Black woman threw acid on her face. After holes began popping up in her story, she admitted that the story was a hoax. Why are black people scapegoated like this again and again in the USA? Isn’t there some law on the books, besides giving a false statement that can deter such race-based lies to cops?
In 1993, there was also the Pizza deliveryman Brian Wells came to a bank in Erie, Pa. with a bomb locked around his neck. He told police that group of Black men had taken him hostage and put the bomb there. After receiving close to $9,000, the pizza man was blown to bits by the bomb. Police would later find out that Wells was in on the plot with a few of his white friends.
